Berlin-based fintech re:cap is making its move into the UK market, bringing its Capital Operating System (Capital OS) to British tech companies alongside a substantial €125 million credit facility. The expansion, backed by HSBC Innovation Banking and Avellinia Capital, positions the company in one of the world's most advanced tech ecosystems.

According to the company's press release, re:cap's platform addresses a critical pain point for tech founders navigating today's challenging funding landscape. As the industry shifts from growth-at-all-costs to capital efficiency, the Capital OS combines flexible debt, real-time liquidity management, and capital planning in a single platform.

"Over the past four years, our platform has helped hundreds of tech companies in Germany and the Netherlands scale efficiently – with zero defaults and full transparency," said Paul Becker, CEO and co-founder of re:cap, as stated in the press release.

The timing couldn't be more strategic. The UK represents the second-largest tech funding market globally, home to thousands of startups grappling with rising interest rates, valuation pressure, and stricter investor scrutiny. Many are exploring alternative financing models to preserve equity while maintaining growth trajectories.

Since launching in Germany in 2021, re:cap has deployed over €100 million across Germany and the Netherlands, maintaining an impressive zero-default track record that has caught institutional investors' attention. The company was founded by fintech veterans Paul Becker and Jonas Tebbe, who previously built LIQID, Europe's leading digital wealth manager.

The new funding structure represents a significant vote of confidence from financial partners. Phill Lovett, Head of Structured Finance at HSBC Innovation Banking, highlighted their partnership since 2022, while Julian Schickel from Avellinia Capital noted how re:cap solves "a major headache for tech founders" by providing accessible growth capital with powerful analytics.

With this UK expansion, re:cap aims to become the single system of record for founders and CFOs across Europe, offering an integrated approach where capital, planning, and execution converge in one platform.
